Vandana Berjis Desai :

He graduated in commerce and studied law at the prestigious Government Law College, Mumbai. She practiced as a corporate lawyer with a large law firm.

Vandana left legal practice to edit the in-flight magazine of Jet Airways. She is also a trained Montessori teacher and holds diplomas in Advanced French from Alliance Francaise and in Travel & Tourism. She has done various certified workshops in cognitive and behavioral psychology with Sinara Education and Institute of Human Technology. She has often volunteered for NGOs like the Red Cross and Indian Association for Promotion of Adoption (IAPA) and was on the board of an orphanage run by the Rakesh Jhunjhunwala foundation.

Her eclectic interests include owning a stud farm at Pune and her race horses have set world records in thoroughbred racing.

Nanik Rupani :

He (born 1941) is an Indian Entrepreneur and Philanthropist who is the Chairman of Roopmeck Electricals Pvt. Ltd. He is also the Chairman Emeritus of Priyadarshni Academy, a prominent NGO which provides educational scholarships to needy and deserving students. They promote the Indian classical performing arts among the youth. Priyadarshni Academy has also presented literary awards in four Indian languages that spread ancient India’s wisdom to an international audience and holds a biennial Global Awards program which has been called by many Indian leaders as India’s Nobel Martin Luther King III who was an American awardee.

Darshan Hiranandani :

He is the Managing Director of the $3billion Hiranandani Group, India’s largest residential developer. He heads the real estate operations in Dubai (www.hiranandani.com) and is the Chief Executive Officer of the energy operations globally (www.henergy.com) and plays an advisory role in the real-estate operations
in India.

The Dubai arm started by Darshan at the age of 23 has completed the world’s tallest residential building (400m tall) called 23 Marina.

H-Energy is beginning with a 4mmtpa Floating LNG terminal on the west coast of India and a 3mmtpa Floating LNG terminal on the East Coast in offshore West Bengal. These two projects involve an investment of USD 2 bn for the group. The company has also signed an agreement to set up a USD 3bn LNG liquefaction terminal in Eastern Canada. The objective is to be a substantial player in the Oil and Gas space.

Darshan also plays a key role in Hiranandani Communities LLP, Niranjan Hiranandani’s development arm for India projects. The real-estate arm is already committed to developing 100 million sq.ft. between its Chennai, Panvel and Alibaug townships.

Darshan has completed his MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology, (RIT) New York. Darshan serves as a Trustee of RIT, New York and on the Board of RIT Dubai.

Mrs. Kamal Hiranandani :

She is a Director with the Hiranandani Group.  A businesswoman, she handles multifarious roles in the organisation. Besides sales and administration, she participates in decisions on litigation, financial planning, and sale and land procurement. She is hands-on in areas of customer grievances and society related issues that need to be attended to and to be sorted out with legal, administrative and above all humanitarian approach.

Having travelled extensively around the world, her exposure to world economics, business nuances add value to her work profile.  A member of the YPO Gold Forum gives the advantage of networking both within the country and outside.

A fitness enthusiast and one who follows the diktat of healthy living brings to the forefront her energy towards a perfect personal life/work balance

Mr. Washu P Vasandani:

She is a Finance and Accounts professional with over 45 year’s experience. Did his graduation from Mithibai Motiram Kundnani College of Commerce and Economics. Is an active member of an International NGO and takes a keen interest in social activities particularly poverty alleviation. Is also Managing Trustee of Sindhi Panchayat, Goregaon, Mumbai and also in the Committee of Western Suburban Sindhi Panchayat.

Has been associated with Mr. Lal Chellaram’s Group since last 45 years and is a Director in many of the Group Companies in India as well as Trustee in the Group’s Charitable Trusts and Foundations engaged in Educational and Health Care Related work.

Mr. Ranjit Shahani:

Former Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Novartis India Limited, is a veteran in the healthcare industry who has served as the Managing Director and Country President of Novartis India Limited for 15 years. He has managed diverse boards, teams and organisations to drive strategic growth plans and delivered strong and successful business outcomes within complex environments. Very strong in advocacy and influencing policy changes.

Mr Shahani is immediate Past President, Swiss Indian Chamber of Commerce and has promoted strong ties between
Switzerland and India. He is President Emeritus of Organisation of Pharmaceuticals Producers of India (OPPI), also Past President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was on the Council of the International Federation of Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers Associations (IFPMA, Geneva).  He is a thought leader in the Pharmaceutical Industry and has been actively involved in advocating for a strong Product Patent law in the country and Data Protection and liberalization of the price control mechanism for Pharmaceuticals.  He has also strongly canvassed for deterrent
legislation against counterfeit drugs and liberalisation of FDI in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Mr Shahani is a Mechanical Engineer from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies.

Mr. Nihchal Israni:

Mr.Nihchal Israni was born in Sind (now in Pakistan) in 1929 and migrated to India after partition in 1948.

After completing his Graduation in Economics from Poona University, Mr.Israni joined PFIZER Ltd. as a Commercial Assistant and in 10 years, became their first Indian Managing Director. During his term, Pfizer rose rapidly and became a public Company in India

To gain international experience, Mr.Israni joined Warner-Lambert / Warner-Hindustan Ltd. in 1966 – again as the first Indian Managing Director. He made Warner-Hindustan a public Company and their pharma. the business expanded rapidly. From 1973 – 1980 he was then re-located at Hong Kong and Tokyo as Warner Lambert International’s first Indian Regional President for Asia.

After travelling the world over and successful completion of 15 years with Warner-Lambert International, Mr.Israni decided to return to India at the age of 52 and set up his own professionally managed Pharma. Company – Blue Cross Laboratories Ltd. – with the ambitious goal of making world-class quality commonly used pharmaceuticals and marketing them at 20-40% lower prices which middle-class and weaker sections of society can afford. In fact, even Government price-controlled essential pharma. products are sold by Mr.Israni’s Company at 10-25% lower than controlled prices. This is because of the strict cost and expense controls exercised by Blue Cross and the close cooperation of many raw material suppliers.

Today, Mr.Israni’s Company has two modern Pharma. Plants and employs over 2200 young professionals all over India, who are constantly developed and progressing well along with his Company.

Mr.Israni was the President of Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) for record 3 years. He has received several Life-Time Achievement and other Awards from IDMA, OPPI, Rotary and other professional/business organisations. Mr.Israni is a Board Member of HSNC Board which runs over 20 other well-known Colleges. He is an active Major Donor of Rotary. Mr.Israni supports many worthy causes of poor people in the fields of education, healthcare, skill-development, old age support, etc.

Mr.Israni has two grown-up sons doing well and many happy friends with whom he enjoys a good social life. His hobbies are philanthropy, youth development, fine arts and reading. He is 89 now, maintains good discipline and health and has no plans to retire!

Mrs. Anjula K Mansukhani:

Mrs. Anjula K. Mansukhani is Graduate in Home Science & Economics from Lady Irwin College, Delhi.

She taught in College of Home Science, Nirmala Niketan in Mumbai.

After marriage, Mrs. Mansukhani relinquished the teaching job and joined the “Maharashtra State Womens’ Council” for voluntary social work. She was member of “Funds Committee” and “Street Children Project”. One of the Street Children’s Project was, involvement with traffic during the peak hours. The children, above 16 years old were placed to assist the pedestrian movement especially in the Churchgate area between 5 to 7 pm.

On Shri Gangaram H Mansukhani’s request, Mrs. Mansukhani assisted the family business, Navyug Leather Works, Retail Marketing and Exports of handmade leather foot wear. Here she worked for 2 decades. She monitored the quality control and design of hand made foot wear. During this period, Mrs. Mansukhani visited Ulhasnagar several times with Shri Gangaram Mansukhani, in early stages of setting up CHM Campus and CHM College, established with generosity and efforts of Shri Gangaram.

Mr. & Mrs. Mansukhani moved to Pune, where she started with Mr. Mansukhani and son Keshab a Retail Marketing business, representing various multi-national brands, managing chain of stores.

Currently, Mrs. Mansukhani is actively involved with two Charitable Trusts namely (1) Sounpibai & Hashmatrai Himathmal Mansukhani Trust and (2) Principal Khushiram Kundnani & Jotu Kundnani Trust. The Trusts give financial assistance to needy students for education and medical help to those who are not able to afford it.

Dr.Malini Mansukhani Laud:

M.D.S. (Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics)

I have done my B.D.S.(bachelors of dental, surgery)from Mumbai University and my M.D.S.inConservative dentistry and Endodontics from Bangalore University.

Have been in private practice since 2002 and specialize in Cosmetic dentistry and Endodontics (root canals ). I have also been in academics,and have taught at various dental colleges across Maharashtra.for !0 years.

However, after having two daughters, I found it difficult to balance private practice, academics as well as children and hence, unfortunately, I had to give my teaching. Am looking forward to contributing to the HSNC Board, in whatever way I can

Dr. Shalini Mirchandani:

Dr. Shalini Mirchandani is an Orthodontist with a practice of over 23 years in South Mumbai and a satellite practice in Juhu. She lived and practised in the USA for 10 years. Dr. Mirchandani received her DMD and her Post-Doc in Orthodontics at the prestigious Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, where she graduated as the class Valedictorian. Her undergraduate (BDS) was at Dr. Rafique Dental College in Kolkata, where she was a gold medalist for all four years.

She lives in Mumbai with her husband Dinesh Mirchandani, who is the Managing Partner of a global management consulting firm. Her daughter, Ria, is a Product Manager at Microsoft in the US. Shalini enjoys tossing together exotic salads, playing card games and travelling to remote parts of the globe with her adventurous family. She looks forward to bringing the same energy and professional excellence that she is widely known for, to her tenure on the Hyderabad Sindh Board of Trustees.

Mrs. Padma Shah:

She is a graduate in English and has been associated with the HSNC Board since 1973 when she joined K.C. College. Whilst at K.C. she looked after the administration of the Board as well since 1980s. However since her retirement from K.C. College, in the year 2003-2004, she has been fully absorbed by the Board’s work and continue to work till date. Besides her administrative responsibilities, Mrs Padma Shah helps/guides Principals of the colleges under the Board with her capacity as the member of this prestigious Board as well as the member of various other sub-committees of the Board. She was nominated on the Board in the year 1991.
